Gulf Sustainable Urbanism (GSU) is a holistic, cross-disciplinary, cross-border study by Harvard University focusing on sustainable urbanism in the Gulf Region. It is sponsored by Msheireb Properties, a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation, Qatar.
During its first phase in 2011/2012, the project focuses on the pre-oil urbanization of Doha (Qatar), Manama/Muharraq (Bahrain), Dammam & Hofuf (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait City (Kuwait), Basra (Iraq), Bandar Lengeh (Iran), Bandar Abbas (Iran), Muscat/Matrah (Oman), Dubai (UAE), Abu Dhabi & Al Ain (UAE).
